We are looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to lead the accounting team and oversee financial accounting operations. You will ensure accurate and timely reporting, compliance with Romanian Accounting Standards (RAS), tax legislation, and IFRS, while maintaining effective internal controls and supporting group reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, support, and develop the accounting team, coordinating workloads and identifying professional training needs.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts and accounting records.
Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, meeting statutory and group reporting deadlines.
Oversee the preparation and timely submission of tax returns and statutory financial statements in accordance with Romanian legislation.
Manage group reporting processes, ensuring accurate and consistent financial information.
Implement and monitor internal controls to support compliance and reliable financial reporting.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash disbursements.
Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors and relevant authorities.

Required Skills and Experience

University degree in Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in financial accounting, including previous team coordination responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of Romanian Accounting Standards, tax legislation, and IFRS.
Advanced English proficiency, at C1 level.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP systems such as CHARISMA or SAP.
Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to solving problems.

Preferred Qualifications

CECCAR certification as an expert accountant is strongly preferred.
ACCA qualification, completed or in progress.
Experience within a Big Four firm is highly desirable.
Background in professional services or audit.
Experience working in the accounting department of an international organization.
