Responsibilities
Architecture & Design: Lead the design and development of Java-based applications and services while defining and evolving system architecture, coding standards, and best practices.
Technical Leadership: Act as a technical decision-maker and point of escalation for complex issues.
Hands-on Engineering: Remain hands-on with coding, code reviews, and critical system components.
Mentorship: Mentor and coach engineers, supporting both their technical and career growth.
Collaboration: Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Quality & Best Practices: Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices (clean code, testing, CI/CD) and ensure software quality, performance, security, and scalability.
Delivery: Participate in planning, estimation, and delivery commitments while promoting a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
7+ years of professional software development experience, primarily focused on Java.
Strong expertise in Java (Java 8+), OOP, and design patterns.
Experience with Kotlin is required.
Extensive experience working with Spring / Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
Proven experience leading technical teams or acting as a technical lead.
Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
Experience with automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Set Yourself Apart With
Experience in a people-management or player-coach role.
Cloud experience, preferably with Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
DevOps and CI/CD experience (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
Hands-on knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes / AKS).
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM, Terraform).
Experience with messaging systems like Kafka or Azure Service Bus.
Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana).
Experience implementing security best practices.
